There is a new focus/productivity game in town, and this one let’s you hold your focus sessions with friends! On-Together: Virtual Co-Working offers players the ability to open or join lobbies so that they can connect with friends (or make new ones) for shared focus sessions or just hanging out.
Players earn tickets by spending time in the game to purchase additional customization options for their avatar. The lobbies give players control over how they connect with other players. Lobbies can be set as public or private. Private lobbies have an additional layer of protection, with the option of providing the lobby code to your friends or having them request entry. There are tag options to let others know the focus of each lobby, so that players can browse for a lobby that matches their current interests.
I currently use On-Together in my co-working channel. Since the game just released, there hasn’t been a lot of opportunity to build stream community lobbies yet, but I’m looking forward to doing more with the game as it gains players. I don’t use the in game music during my stream, but I’ve listened to it a little when offline. It isn’t my personal taste for when I’m focusing, but it’s a fairly chill and laidback soundtrack for those interested in using the in game music.
Customizing your On-Together Avatar
The initial character customization options are limited, but offer a decent variety for getting started. The majority of the options can be purchased with tickets earned by spending time in the game. This allows players to access new looks over time. There are also 3 customization save slots available, so you can make three different looks that you can switch between easily.
The color palette of the game overall is full of soft and muted colors, with stylized chibi characters, and clean, simple backgrounds. The island offers a variety of hangouts for players to choose, including a boat, a library, and a basketball court.
Activities in On-Together
Let’s start with the activities available during focus sessions in On-Together. Players can choose a variety of focus activities, from reading or writing to knitting or napping. With the variety of locations and the different things players can have their character do during focus sessions, there are lots of ways to express your current (or desired) state of focus.

There are also active options for players. Exploring the island is aided by the floating power of bubblegum. Players blow a bubble and float up to elevated locations. From there, they can engage an umbrella or just free fall to land. There is no danger for the characters – no avatars are harmed in the bubble gum flight experiments in this game! Players can also play music or shoot hoops. One gathering table is set up in a table top RPG layout.
There is fishing available at the beaches and docks. Players earn tickets and release the fish back to the water. The fishing minigame does seem to require some quick, repetitive clicking, which is not the friendliest for some players hands (like mine), so I’m hoping there is an accessibility friendly option for that added at some point.
Ravvy’s First Impressions
I think that On-Together: Virtual Co-Working is a cozy space and a good tool for friends and gamers to connect online while engaged in offline activities. There is good control over who you are sharing your online focus space with, and a nice variety of places and activities for your character to do in game. The art style is cozy and cute, and employs a soft, muted color palette that isn’t distracting to the eye. There are other focus session games available, but if you are looking for one that let’s you hang with friends while you focus, On-Together is definitely a good choice for your library.
